  • First we’ll discuss the nature of the difficulties you’ve been experiencing, including any thoughts, feelings or behaviors that you’d like to change as well as your current coping methods. From there we’ll make a plan tailored to your goals and needs. Next I will help you learn new tools each week, that you can use in your day to day life between appointments. Every skill learned will be thought of as an experiment; we’ll see how each one works for you, adjust as needed a grow from there.

  • Some people find that they are able to quickly apply the skills and get fast relief and 12-18 sessions is all they need. For others who struggle with more intense unhealthy coping behaviors, those who prefer a deeper dive into the skills, or for people who find that the roots of their difficulties with emotions or self-critical thoughts stem from trauma might prefer longer-term therapy.

  • We will create an individualized plan based on your unique needs and goals. I will emphasize scientifically researched skills and techniques based on either Dialectical Behavior Therapy or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, both of which use mindfulness based practices.
